A new 90-foot mural on the side of California American Water’s building in Imperial Beach is helping to transform the area. Created by artist Carly Ealey, the mural features an underwater scene with a large turtle, a leopard shark and a seal lion all native to San Diego.

Said Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina in a Facebook post, “When I took office in early 2015, the area on the south side of Hwy 75 between 10th and 11 the streets included two empty buildings, graffiti, a garbage-filled lot, razor wire and a transient camp. Thanks to Cal American Water, lots of effort by IB employees, and then later the new Mobil Food Mart, this area has now been totally transformed. And now with the brand new ocean wildlife mural by artist Carly Ealy, on the Cal-Am Water building, this area is now even better!”
