California Water Association (CWA) member companies commemorated Smart Irrigation Month in July and National Water Quality Month in August with educational posts on social media and by hosting open houses.

San Jose Water Company’s (SJWC) social media posts on water quality ran in August on Twitter and Facebook. The water utility also hosted a Community Open House on August 15 and will conduct quarterly meetings for customers throughout the service area where they can learn more about SJWC close to home.

The open house highlighted water quality and featured presentations on water rates, water quality, and SJWC’s Water Quality Public Health Goals Report. Staff answered questions about the various displays on advanced metering infrastructure, conservation, acoustic leak detection, asset management, emergency preparedness using earthquake simulation software, safety, distribution services, and operations. Images of infrastructure projects gave the enthusiastic guests the opportunity to discover what SJWC does to maintain water tanks, treatment plants, and the 2,400 miles of water mains.

California Water Service promoted a series of water quality videos during Water Quality Month on bill inserts and links to the video series on Facebook advertisements.
